Musée départemental Arles antique.
This sarcophagus chest is decorated on one side only with several musical instruments and with elements alluding to the cult of Cybele, Phrygian goddess of wild nature, and of her young lover Attis. The name of the deceased, Tyrrania, recalls that of the god Men Tyrannos, identified with Attis.
Limestone. Late 2nd to 3rd century. H. 78.5; W. 219; D. 81.5 cm. Arles, Alyscamps, undated. FAN.1992.527.
